The Richland County Public Librarys (RCPL) mission is to provide library services that meet informational, recreational, and lifelong learning needs of local residents. To further this end, RCPL has used Libraries Online! resources to enhance early childhood learning and development by providing computer access and information technologies to underserved children and their care-givers/teachers. Increased access was accomplished through the creation of a small "Childrens Room" lab at the Main Library and an off-site lab located at The Childrens Garden, a local daycare center serving underprivileged and homeless children. Activities at the labs include training on educational WWW sites, multi-media software, and on-line library and Internet resources. The program is supported by outreach and administrative activities at the Main Library.
