The Seattle Public Library (SPL) is implementing its second year of Libraries Online! projects across several different locations. SPL, as part of its ongoing Virtual Learning Community project, established Community Learning Labs at the Central Library, the Rainier Beach Branch Library and the Highpoint Branch Library during the first year of Libraries Online!. During its participation in the second year of the program, SPL expanded the Virtual Learning Community project by bringing expanded information services and Community Learning Labs to the Lake City, Douglas Truth, Greenlake, Southwest and West Seattle neighborhoods. These Community Learning Labs have multimedia computers which are networked within the Community Learning Labs as well as linked to each other and the Internet by T-1 lines. The Community Learning Lab at the High Point public housing community specifically benefits local children and teens. |
