The Libraries Online! project at the St. Louis Public Library (SLPL) was focused on promoting "public use of modern information technology," a long standing library goal. The grant increased learning resources and access to information services with the creation of a public computer center in one of SLPLs branch libraries. More specifically, the Libraries Online! resources helped convert the Divoll Branch Library into SLPLs second youth-focused branch with the creation of a "youth-centric" computer center. Electronic resources on the 15-machine lab include homework aids such as word processing, spreadsheets, reference, graphics, education games, literacy tools, the internet, and electronic books geared to a variety of ages and interests. Using the words of the Library Boards current president, the project has assisted the library in providing the opportunity to "make kids successful in school and in life."
